Beebot Programing

 

P2 had lots of fun this afternoon with our Beebots.  Each team had to place a counter on their mat to mark where they wanted their Beebot to travel to.  This involved using the language of directions e.g. forward, back, right turn etc.  The children were responsible for programing accurate directions for the Beebot to follow. 

 

The longer the journey, the more challenging the task proved to be!  

 

Some of our Beebots managed to reach the bank, the petrol station and the florist :)

Class Plant

Look at the growth taking place in our classroom plant!  The children have been taking such good care of our pretty plant, providing it with plenty of light and water.  We love the new, bright flowers!

Our class plant

As part of our Science focus, the children have been learning about living and non-living things.  The boys and girls are aware of the factors involved in keeping a plant alive e.g. water, light etc.  The children have been taking turns to water our plant and chose to keep the plant on our window sill to allow access to light. 

 

We thought you might like to be kept updated with our class plant's progress between now and the end of term.  The children will post a photograph on our blog each week.  They are all keeping their fingers crossed that we see lots of beautiful flowers very soon.

Living & Non Living

This afternoon, we decided to take advantage of the unusually sunny weather. We went for a science walk around our local area to spot both living and non living things.  The children were fantastic at pointing out a variety of things and categorising them into living or non living. Ask your child how they can work out if something is living or non living.  I think I have a class of mini scientists!

Co-ordinates

In Maths this term, we have been learning about co-ordinates (grid references).  The children have been participating in different activities to help them develop their skills in locating items on a grid.  The boys and girls can share that to write accurate coordinates, you must go across first, then up.

 

 

Susie the Summariser

As the children continue to develop and build on their reading skills, they will have opportunities to meet some interesting puppets along the way.  Last week, P2 had the pleasure of meeting Susie the Summariser!  Ask your child what Susie's job is :)
