Co-ordinates

In Maths this term, we have been learning about co-ordinates (grid references).  The children have been participating in different activities to help them develop their skills in locating items on a grid.  The boys and girls can share that to write accurate coordinates, you must go across first, then up.

Susie the Summariser

As the children continue to develop and build on their reading skills, they will have opportunities to meet some interesting puppets along the way.  Last week, P2 had the pleasure of meeting Susie the Summariser!  Ask your child what Susie's job is :)

Here are some pictures of the children working on their summary of a short animation called The Way Back Home.

Grammar stations - 'a' or 'an'

P2 enjoyed moving round various stations to strengthen their knowledge of when to use 'a' or 'an' e.g. a bike or an orange.  I was very impressed with their grammar skills!  Well done boys and girls :)

Icicle collage

We had so much fun creating icicles to hang from our classroom ceiling!  We want to transform our classroom so that it looks like one of the polar regions.  We used various materials and cut different shapes and sizes to make icicles using the collage art technique.  Stay posted to watch our classroom transform infront of you :)

The Northern Lights artwork

Last Friday, the boys and girls in P2 were extremely busy bees, working on their Northern Lights artwork.  They used tree templates and a curved template to give the effect of lights flashing across the sky.  The pupils chose the colours themselves and used chalk pastels so that they could smudge each colour for extra effect.  We now have an amazing display for the whole school to enjoy!
